CogNi DocScan (CogNiScan) Privacy Policy

CogNi DocScan, also called CogNiScan in the app, is provided by Noesis. This policy explains how CogNiScan handles information when you use the app.
Information handled by the app
- Scans and extracted text: Photos, scanned pages, PDFs, and OCR text are processed and stored locally on your device for the core scanning features.
- Optional cloud connections: CogNiScan connects to Google Drive or Dropbox only when you choose to connect a provider. Connecting enables automatic backup and synchronization of existing and newly saved drafts and documents, including scanned images, extracted text, and file metadata. The provider supplies basic account details, such as your name or email address. Files are stored in your own provider account. Core scanning and export do not require a cloud connection.
- Purchases: Optional one-time support payments are processed by Google Play or Apple's App Store. CogNiScan receives transaction status and product information but does not receive full payment-card details.
- Network requests: Google Fonts and optional translation models may be downloaded at runtime. Standard network information, such as an IP address, may be processed by the relevant service provider to deliver those files.
- SDK diagnostics: Google ML Kit and its supporting services collect device and app information, installation identifiers, performance metrics, feature events and error codes for diagnostics and usage analytics. Translation also reports configured source and destination languages. This information is sent to Google over HTTPS; on-device OCR and translation do not send document images or extracted text to Google for processing.
CogNiScan does not include advertising SDKs and does not sell personal information.
Permissions
Camera access captures documents. Gallery import uses the operating system photo picker so users choose specific images. Saving exported images may require permission to add files to the photo library.
Storage, retention, and deletion
Local drafts and saved documents remain on the device until deleted in CogNiScan or the app is uninstalled. Android system cloud backup is disabled for private app data. Disconnecting a cloud provider stops further sync and revokes or removes locally stored authorization. Documents already uploaded remain in the user's provider account until deleted there. Exported files saved outside CogNiScan must be deleted from their destination separately. Providers retain SDK diagnostics and transaction records according to their own policies; deleting a local document does not delete those records. CogNiScan does not create a separate Noesis account. Google and Dropbox accounts are managed by those providers.
Service providers
The app may use Google Play services, Google Sign-In and Drive, Dropbox, Google ML Kit, Google Fonts, and Apple/Google in-app purchases. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy terms.
Security
Cloud-provider tokens use operating-system secure credential storage. Transfers to connected providers use HTTPS. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
Children
CogNiScan is a general-purpose productivity tool intended for ages 13 and above, not directed at children under 13. A parent or guardian can contact Noesis about a privacy concern.

The enquiry form asks for your name, email address and a message. You can also provide your company and the type of project you have in mind. We use this information to review and respond to your enquiry, and to continue the conversation you requested.
Enquiries are stored in the website’s administrative system and may be included in an email notification to the Noesis team. Please do not include passwords, payment details or other sensitive information in a project enquiry.
Website operation
The public site does not include advertising trackers, third-party analytics scripts, embedded maps or externally hosted fonts. Basic server logs may record information needed to operate and troubleshoot the website. Signed-in administrators use WordPress authentication cookies.

Some pages link to other websites. Those websites operate under their own privacy practices. Following an external link takes you outside this website.
Your choices
You can contact us to ask about information you have shared, request a correction or request deletion of an enquiry that is no longer needed. Contact info@noesis.in and describe your request without sending sensitive identity documents in the first message.
